Marty Chichester joined the Oakdene team as the executive chef 6 months after the restaurant originally opened, and has been the force behind the success of the restaurant to this day.

With his loyal and dedicated team of chefs and front of house staff, Oakdene has become renowned for its consistent high standards of food and service over the years and has become a firm favourite amongst locals and tourists globally. The team have gained accolades and awards both regionally and nationally at the highest level with recognition of their efforts from major Australian and international food critics. 

Most recently, after 13 years of blood, sweat and tears Marty has taken over the company reigns of both food operations at the Oakdene vineyard property and is determined to carry on the continued success and loyal following he has accumulated over the years.

Marty's vision for the future of Oakdene (especially the restaurant) is that it will become a dining complex that can cater for all occasions and budgets.

Our services will include high tea on the terrace, affordable contemporary dining in the restaurant, casual family dining at Mr Grubb and any style of function, wedding, conference or special occasion you can think of.

Marty has recently introduced a new a la carte menu in the restaurant which is designed to carry on the tradition of representing local and regional produce but at an affordable price.

The new menu will be less expensive, with prices that will range from $15-$18 for entrees and $32-36 for main courses. The menu will still contain the ever popular Grill & Steak section offering the best Steaks on the Peninsula and some specials along the way.

The food will still include the high level of presentation and execution followed by the exceptional service that has been the forefront of the restaurant since the day it started.

Mr Grubb will continue on in the same manner, offering great early evening family dining options and a lunch menu that offers something for everyone.

Melbourne Cup Day Afternoon

New Years Eve Dinner - The Long Table

Celebrate the end of 2016 and welcome in 2017 at the contemporary dining restaurant, Marty @ Oakdene with a night of Continuous European cuisine finishing with cheese and desserts.

Dine on long tables (outside in the restaurant garden - weather permitting) and enjoy delicious european style food with wines and cocktails to match served continuously throughout the evening. The dinner will feature french, italian and spanish style dishes, numerous courses and a charcuterie laden long table and includes matched wines with a few cocktails to inspire New Years celebrations.

Beginning at 7pm and finishing just after 12pm with a final glass of sparkling, you can enjoy live music with Ben Calderazzo featuring a special French guest singer.

2015 Oakdene Late Harvest Riesling $23 per bottle

We got a lovely little write up in Gourmet Traveller for our 2015 Late Harvest Riesling. This is what Max Allen had to say; 'Don't let the very pale, innocent appearance fool you - this delicious sweet late-harvest riesling is full of flavour and character. Fine, floral almost sherbety perfume leads on to super-ripe fat yellow fruit finessed by zingy acidity.' $23.00 per bottle - $20.70 for Wine Club.

Tour the Oakdene Vineyard property aboard the 'Oakdene Express' 3 carriage train and take in the vineyards and the unique and eclectic art works and gardens that create the quirky Oakdene experience. 

Enjoy wine tastings during the tour of some of the award winning estate grown Oakdene Wines and then move into the restaurant Marty @ Oakdene for an exquisite 3 course lunch (beverages are not included). 

Train tours/wine tastings begin promptly at 12 noon and 1pm followed by lunch. Bookings are essential and a deposit of $50 per table is required to confirm the booking.

Masterclass - $125 per person
Monday 24th & 31st October
6:30pm to 9:30pm

Held in the kitchen in Oakdene's restaurant and hosted by Anthony Higoe, this cooking class welcomes spring by focusing on lighter meals and tries to introduce a more cleansing feel to the dishes. 

Entree
Tartare of Tasmanian salmon. Amazing in appearance, the fish is diced finely and mixed together with some native finger lime and fresh chives. It's assembled with a salad of avocado, orange, grapefruit and salmon caviar. To add texture we are going to serve the dish with baked sour dough crostini to give the crunch, and finish it with some nasturtiums. 

Main Course
The next course is fillet or backstrap of lamb, the most tender part of the lamb with very little fat. A new season spring pea purée with mint and olive oil spiked with lemon juice will accompany this dish and add a richness but fresh feel. To garnish, we will chargrill some local asparagus to add a smokey texture and will finish the dish with chards of maple cured pancetta.

Dessert
Strawberry Mille Feuilli - puff pastry, strawberries, chantilly cream and creme patisserie. A dessert to knock your guests off their feet. 

This collection of dishes will be cleverly matched with the award wining wines from the vineyard and enjoyed together in the glamorous surround of the amazing Chocolate Room at Oakdene Restaurant.
