2022 Field Blend

Appearance
Very bright magenta in colour

Bouquet
Perfumed bouquet of red cherry, dark plum, dried cranberry and pepper.

Palate
Light bodied and fresh, with bright acidity and juicy fruit driving the palate. Red cherry, raspberry, soft pippy tannin, and spice to close.

Fermentation
Shiraz (80%) and Merlot (20%) was destemmed, and then fermented in small open vats using cultured yeast, then pressed off early to tank for malolactic fermentation to maintain fruit and a softer tannin profile. The wine was then blended and bottled unfined in November 2022.

Conclusion
Enjoy now or cellar for 2 to 4 years.

91 points, Philip Rich, Halliday Wine Companion (plus red star for special value) - A blend of 80/20% shiraz/merlot, destemmed and fermented in small open vats, matured in French barriques (10% new) for five months. A very bright, quite deep crimson red. There's a little reduction that blows away with a quick swirl or two before revealing scents of briary red fruits and pink peppercorns. Medium bodied and juicy fruited with fine tannins and bright acidity, this is a very tasty red to serve ever so slightly chilled on a warm night.
