2020 Oakdene Liz's Chardonnay
Complex bouquet, with notes of cashew nut, white peach, and lemon citrus with barrel ferment characters.
Bright and vibrant, with a generous core of briny acidity and citrus crunch. Stone fruit, oatmeal and lemon curd fill the palate, with spicy French oak contributing texture and balance.
Hand harvested Chardonnay was pressed and transferred to barrel for fermentation using wild yeast. Post ferment lees stirring was conducted on a fortnightly basis. The wine underwent partial (10%) malolactic fermentation, and was matured in French oak barriques (30% new) for 12 months prior to bottling in February 2021.
Enjoy now with food or cellar for 4 to 8 years.

Oakdene’s Liz’s Chardonnay always put on a show.
There’s richness both to the flavour and texture here though it’s neat with it. Peach, cooked and dried apple, cedar and citrus flavours come infused with toast and burnt butter, though everything is both in harmony and in balance. It finishes with fresh, flowing feel though there’s a tautness here; it will be better again once it’s had a chance to relax.
