REVIEWS & RATINGS

96 points, Gold Medal & Trophy, Best Pinot Noir - Geelong Wine Show 2022

2022 Halliday Wine Companion, Jeni Port, 94 points - 'Hand-picked fruit, 20% whole bunches, wild-yeast fermented in small open-top pots, mlf, 12 months' maturation in French oak barriques (30% new). Deep purple/garnet colour. Intense and savoury in aromas of Thai herbs, anise, wood smoke, black cherry. Runs a touch wild and savoury across the tongue in shades of cherry cola, rhubarb and sage, with notes of smoke. A light dusting of spice throughout helps fuel the wine's energy'.

The Wine Front, Campbell Mattinson, 91 points – 'A solid pinot noir with stewed cherry fruit flavours matched to notes of clove, redcurrant, woodsmoke and twig. Cirtussy, blood-orange-like acidity helps keep the brightness up though in truth there’s plenty of fragrance here and plenty of life. Firm-but-appropriate tannin is a highlight too'.

Ciao Magazine, Wine with Winsor, Winsor Dobbin - 'Proper Pinot.  Geelong and the Bellarine Peninsula outside Melbourne are home to several smallish wine producers doing good things that remain off the Sydney radar. Not only does Oakdene offer an impressive cellar door experience, with restaurant, café, accommodation and gardens, its wines are very much on the rise. This is a smooth, versatile and food-friendly single-vineyard pinot noir with a nice balance between fruit and savoury characters that hits the sweet spot'.
