Intense mid-palate by cherry rhubarb notes. French oak and whole bunches adding a savoury element to the wine, with clove, redcurrant, woodsmoke and twiggy notes. Amaro like acidity and ample tannin offer balance and length.
Hand harvested fruit was destemmed, with 20% included as whole bunches, then with 8 – 10 days maceration on skins fermentation was started using wild yeast in a small open vat for 6 days reaching 30 degrees. The wine was pressed to barrel for malolactic fermentation was matured in 225 litre French oak barriques (30% new) for 12 months prior to bottling in February 2020.

Runs a touch wild and savoury across the tongue in shades of cherry cola, rhubarb and sage, with notes of smoke. A light dusting of spice throughout helps fuel the wine's energy'.

Cirtussy, blood-orange-like acidity helps keep the brightness up though in truth there’s plenty of fragrance here and plenty of life. Firm-but-appropriate tannin is a highlight too'.
