2021 Shiraz

Appearance
Deep cherry red.

Bouquet
Ripe dark aromas of red/blue berries lead to spice and black pepper notes.

Palate
Ripe and juicy palate, with cherry pip tannins and oak in the background.  Cool climate in character, with a taut tannin/acid drive that offers early drinking appeal.

Fermentation
Shiraz was destemmed, and then fermented in small open vats. Pressed to barrel for malolactic fermentation and matured in French oak barriques (10% new) for 11 months, then bottled in February 2022.

Conclusion
Drink now or over the next 2 to 8 years.

REVIEWS & RATINGS

92 points, Aaron Brasher, The Real Review - 'Lifted aromas of bramble, blueberry, spice, underbrush and some whole-bunch funk. Bright, fresh and fleshy in flavour, there’s lovely brightness and crunch. Full of blue fruits, spice and snappy acidity. Long, textured and lively, a lovely wine and great value'.

90 points & Special Value Red Star, Philip Rich - Halliday Wine Companion 2024 - 'Fully destemmed and fermented in small open vats. Matured in French barriques (10% new) for 11 months. A bright, medium deep cherry red. Ripe aromas of dark cherries and blackberries intermingle with nutmeg, clove and dark chocolate scents. Equally ripe on the juicy, flavoursome and immediate palate and, while it has enough tannin to suggest it will age reasonably well, my advice is to drink and enjoy this while it's fresh and youthful.'
