2019 Oakdene Jessica Sauvignon

Appearance
Pale straw with a green tinge

Bouquet
Lifted bouquet of lemon rind, lime and green apple with barrel fermentation restraining the herbaceous character of the fruit.

Palate
Abundant guava, mango skin, and a mineral edge, with oak adding texture to the mid palate. Crunchy acidity adding precision, focus and length.

Fermentation
Sauvignon Blanc was crushed and run to barrel and inoculated with yeast with fermentation taking place over 10 days. Yeast lees were stirred regularly over 8 months while maturing in French oak barriques (15% new), prior to bottling in December 2019.

Conclusion
Enjoy now, or cellar for the next 4 years, to gain mid palate weight and complexity.

REVIEWS & RATINGS

93 points, Ned Goowin - Halliday Wine Companion 2022
'Drinking more like a Graves than a Sancerre. The barrel work, the dice of differentiation. Pink grapefruit and candied tangerine zest reel across a broad palate, flecked with curd, lanolin and pungent mineral notes. Richness and a tensile freshness all in one.'

85 Points (Bronze), The Real Review, Stuart Knox
'Medium straw colour. The nose is dominated by oak characters. The palate feels developed, fruit sits in the background while oak savoury components are prominent. Has good length and persistence. Food would be recommended to give those savoury elements context'.
