2016 Oakdene Jessica Awarded Best Sauvignon Blanc at the Halliday Wine Companion Awards


Awarded Best Sauvignon Blanc at the 2018 Halliday Wine Companion Awards

We are thrilled that our very own Oakdene 2016 Jessica Sauvignon has tonight taken out the top place in its category at the Halliday Australian Wine Companion Awards!  The wine was named Best Sauvignon Blanc and awarded 96 points.

These awards coincide with the release of the latest edition (2018) of the influential manual, James Halliday’s’ definitive guide to Australian Wine.

First produced in 2008 from our 5 acre Sauvignon Blanc parcel planted in 2002.  Jessica Sauvignon was considered a project wine with the aim of producing an alternate style to the fruit driven Sauvignon Blanc gaining a strong foothold in the market.

The 2016 Jessica Single Vineyard Sauvignon, benefited from a slightly warmer growing season than usual, the bouquet displays gooseberry, guava with citrus overtones and subtle barrel ferment characters. The palate is full and complex with restrained tropical fruits, vanilla and a mineral edge, leading to a creamy and rich mid palate, lively acidity and a long textural finish.

The award winning restaurant Marty @ Oakdene invites you to the 'Winter Warmer Wine Dinner', featuring special guest Joseph Pratt. Joe was Marty's sous chef at Oakdene for a number of years before he was approached by the MasterChef Australia team of George Calombaris, Gary Mehigan and Matt Preston, to head up the kitchen on Channel Ten's ever popular MasterChef series. Now in his fifth year on MasterChef, Joe has had the privilege of working alongside and recreating all the amazing dishes from such renowned chefs as Heston Blumenthal, Nigella Lawson and Marco Pierre White - to name just a few.

Joe will be working alongside Marty and the Oakdene team to showcase variations of some of the dishes and techniques he has learned in his time on the MasterChef set and will also present his new beef jerky range 'Jurk Face by Chef Joe' which will have your taste buds jumping for joy. Taste n Travel Triangle - A Progressive Dinner on the Bellarine

Friday 11th August - $80 per person

Three unique Bellarine restaurants have joined forces and are set to stage the inaugural Taste n Travel Triangle, a progressive mystery dinner on Friday, August 11. 

Limited to just 20 patrons per venue, the collaborative epicurean adventure will entail Entrée, Main and Dessert, each enjoyed at a different restaurant.  Between each course, a shuttle bus will transfer patrons between The Bungalow in Drysdale, Marty @ Oakdene in Wallington and Flying Brick Cider House, also in Wallington.  At each venue, patrons will be indulged with a choice of two culinary offerings for each course.   

Cost per person for this fun and most fabulous evening is $80, including shuttle bus transfer.  Drinks at bar prices.  The evening will be complete with return shuttle back to where you started!

Marty and his award winning restaurant team, prouldy invites you to yet another delightfully memorable dining experience – this year’s ‘A Celebration of Truffle’ annual dinner at Oakdene on the Bellarine Peninsula.

Showcasing a rare delicacy, the TRUFFLE, that chefs and foodies alike get excited about, this is a 6 course yearly dinner you can’t afford to miss.  With the amazing truffle season now in full swing, Marty @ Oakdene and special guest Julia Edwards from Europantry, will be celebrating the truffle season with a superb collection of dishes designed around truffles.

We will be using freshly harvested Perigord Black Truffles from Manjimup WA.

With her vast experience in truffle products, Julia Edwards will discuss the products used throughout the dinner and will also have truffle products for sale at retail prices on the evening.

Beginning at 6:30 pm, the evening will consist of 6 delectable courses showcasing the Truffle, matched beautifully to a Oakdene's highly acclaimed wines.

Oakdene’s Wine Manager Steven Paul, will also be providing interesting and detailed tasting information on the selection of carefully matched award winning Oakdene wines.

Mr Grubb's Month of Madness continues with Crisp Roast Pork Belly Month in July. Wednesday, Thursday & Friday nights throughout the month of July, we will be serving up a Roast to Remember. It really doesn't get better than Crispy Crackle Roast Pork Belly!!  

Served with chunky roast potatoes, butternut roast pumpkin and veggies accompanied by apple sauce and cider gravy. If that's got you licking your lips, how about finishing the meal off with a bowl of home baked rhubarb and apple crumble with vanilla custard.
